Updates And New Features

Refreshed for the 2021 model year, the new Ford Super Duty earns a variety of updates and new packages.

A new V8 engine replaces an outgoing one, and the truck gets an updated turbo diesel option with class-leading torque. Also a highlight this year is the new Tremor off-road package, which you can add to several Super Duty trim levels.

Engines And Performance

Three engines are available on the Ford F-250 and F-350. These include a 7.3-liter gas V8 engine, a 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel, and a 6.2-liter flex-fuel gas V8. Paired with a standard 10-speed automatic TorqShift transmission, the Super Duty delivers a smooth, quiet ride with effortless handling even with the heaviest loads.

The new Ford F-250 gets the best towing umbers of any truck in its size, with maximum conventional towing capabilities of 20,000 pounds and diesel gooseneck towing up to 22,800 pounds. It also is rated for a maximum payload of 4,260 pounds, so you don't have to worry about overloading your truck bed.

The F-350 is also a best-in-class pickup when it comes to payload strength, boasting a best-in-class 7,850-pounds capacity. Able to tow up to 21,200 pounds conventional or a whopping 31,300 pounds gooseneck/fifth-wheel, the F-350 has all the power you need for serious towing and hauling jobs.

Towing And Hauling Tech

In addition to sheer power, the Super Duty line is packed with smart towing and hauling tech that will make your work days easier.

For instance, the Ford Super Duty offers the ultimate trailer tow camera system, which includes Pro Trailer Backup Assist™ for more precise steering and control when moving backwards with a trailer and Trailer Reverse Guidance with a wider view to hitch up to your trailer.

Should You Buy a Ford Super Duty or Ford F-150?

2021 Ford Super Duty and F-150 | Roosevelt, UT
If you are looking for a strong, capable truck to use for commercial work or recreational adventures here in Roosevelt, Utah, check out the Ford F-Series at L&L Motor Inc. There are many different classes and configurations you can choose from in our inventory. To help you decide which type of F-Series truck is best for your needs, here's a guide to their key differences.

Different Powertrain Options

The Ford F-150, F-250, and Ford F-350 offer a range of engine options each rated at different strength and efficiency levels. You'll find larger engines on Ford Super Duty models but more efficient engines for the F-150.

With a six-engine lineup to choose from, the 2021 F-150's torque ranges from 265 lb-ft to 570 lb-ft depending on the motor that's equipped. Peak horsepower output ranges from 250 with the 3.0-liter Power Stroke® Turbo-Diesel V6 engine up to 430 horsepower from the 3.5-liter PowerBoost™ Full Hybrid V6.

The 2021 Super Duty is powered by your choice of three engines - all notably larger than the F-150's engines. You'll get 385 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque with the 6.2-liter Flex Fuel V8 - which is the standard engine - but can bump that up to 475 horsepower and 1,050 lb-ft of torque with the 6.7-liter Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel.

The capabilities of the F-Series can help determine which class you should choose.

The 2021 Ford F-150 has a maximum towing capacity of 14,000 pounds when equipped with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine. It boasts a best-in-class maximum payload capacity of 3,325 pounds with the 5.0-liter V8 under the hood.

The 2021 Super Duty delivers best-in-class maximum gas conventional towing muscle of 21,000 pounds and maximum available diesel conventional towing rating of 24,200 pounds. For the toughest jobs, the Ford Super Duty also has a best-in-class maximum available 7,850-pound payload rating. The F-250 also boasts a best-in-subsegment 20,000-pound maximum conventional towing rating and 3,940-pound maximum available diesel payload.

The Bottom Line

When it comes down to it, each truck class offers different benefits. If you need to haul small items and tow small trailers, the Ford F-150 can get those jobs done. However, if you need massive towing strength and rugged durability, the Ford Super Duty will be better equipped to tackle that on a daily basis.
