Exterior and Interior Design

While design preferences vary by person, the Ford F-150 has a more distinct exterior with its signature grille and headlight design. The truck also offers available fog lamps and a chrome bumper to add to the bold look.

On the inside, both trucks are spacious and full of clever storage solutions. There are also available luxury options, like ventilated and heated seating, leather appointments and a heated steering wheel. As such, the Silverado 1500 and F-150 have similarly comfortable interiors, though the F-150 stands out with its exterior.

Power and Capability

The Ford F-150 and the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 each offer a variety of powertrain options. However, you'll find that Ford ultimately has more powerful engines available. The most impressive engine that the F-150 offers is the high-output 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost® engine, which delivers 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the strongest engine option for the Silverado 1500 is the 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 engine, which produces 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.

Both trucks also have a diesel engine option, though the F-150 has the more capable engine. Its 3.0-liter Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel engine allows you to tow up to 11,500 pounds when properly equipped. The Duramax® 3.0-liter Turbo-Diesel engine on the Silverado 1500 can only tow 9,300 pounds.

Off-road Performance

If you're looking to drive off-road, the 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor is the optimal choice. This model comes with numerous off-road-ready features, like the electronic-locking rear differential, the Torque-On-Demand® transfer case and available beadlock-capable wheels. Although the F-150 and the Silverado 1500 offer off-road packages, the Silverado 1500 doesn't have a model that matches the capability of the F-150 Raptor.

In this battle of the pickup trucks, the winner is the 2020 Ford F-150. You can learn more about the F-150 when you take a test drive at L&L Motor.
